The NYBD Commission has just learned that Rebel NYC, the location we had booked for the 4th Annual New York Band Draft, has shut down permanently as of this week. Although 2013 was shaping up to be another great event, forces beyond our control have made a Spring 2013 Band Draft impossible.

Although we're disappointed at this turn of events, we're not slowing down one bit. Instead we will just be focusing this year on drumming up support for NYBD alumni musicians and making the Spring 2014 event that much more magnificent.

Think You've Got the Chops to Be Captain?

Every year, the NYBD Commission selects players to be captains of each of the newly created bands. There's only a few specific requirements to be a captain, but increasingly we're seeing that certain skills and resources tend to make for particularly good captains. It's important for us to recruit a as many new captains as possible, just to keep things different and growing every year. To this end, we're asking our fans and friends for volunteers or nominations for captain.

On draft night, captains will take turns drafting players (who have never played together before) into an all-new band.

On gig night, these bands will perform two original songs and one cover song, competing to win fame and prizes.

On Saturday, October 6th, history was made once more. New York's Loudest got another epic Band Draft season under our belts, and 11 amazing bands hit the stage to show off the fruits of all their hard work.

NYBD never ceases to amaze with the quality of acts each year, and this year's event was no different. Each band brought something special to the event, and selection of winners was just as difficult as it always is, but after tallying both audience and participant votes, the winners were as follows:

That time has finally arrived; the official performance night for the New York Band Draft 2012 Season is upon us. This Saturday at Sullivan Hall, 11 bands will take the stage in a battle royale certain to leave you quivering and useless.
